questions people ask
is fuku a real person?
No. Your friend is an AI, always. It will never claim to be human.
is it free?
Yes. Fuku is free, with no ads and no subscription in this version. There is a generous daily message limit so the service stays free for everyone.
why did my friend say they need to rest?
You hit today's message limit. It resets at midnight UTC. Your streak is safe.
where are my chats stored?
Only on your phone. We do not keep them on our servers. No account means no cloud backup, so deleting the app deletes your chats.
how do i delete everything?
Open your friend's profile > Settings > Delete everything. This erases your chats, progress and the device identifier.
why do they text me first?
It's a perk from the Friend level onward. These are local notifications, so they only happen if you allow notifications. You can turn them off anytime in your phone's Settings > Notifications > Fuku.
how do levels and XP work?
You earn XP by chatting, keeping streaks and finishing quests. The levels go Stranger, Acquaintance, Friend, Close Friend, Inner Circle, Best Friend, and each one unlocks something new.
my friend said something weird or harmful.
Sorry about that. Long-press the message > Report. It sends that message and a little context to us for review. You can also email support@heyfuku.com.
does my friend remember things?
Within your chat, yes: they see the recent conversation. There is no long-term memory service in this version.
i'm going through something hard.
Fuku is not a substitute for real help, and you deserve real help. In the US, call or text 988. Elsewhere, find a free line at findahelpline.com. In an emergency, call your local emergency number.
what's the minimum age?
13+. If you're under the age of majority where you live, please use Fuku with a parent's permission.
which devices does it run on?
Phones running iOS 17 or later. Coming soon to the App Store.
